There is an opinion to install a video surveillance system. Pros and cons.
One of our neighbors asked for advice on the model of a video camera that could be installed to record incidents in our house.
We did not have a substantive conversation about this, but for the weekend and holiday I had time for general reflection, and therefore I propose to join the discussion.
Just want to give technical information about modern technologies in the field of video surveillance:
1. Which cameras should I prefer - analog or digital?
2. Record events to the registrar or the server in a private or general cloud or even stop on-line broadcast?
3. Event storage time?
4. The effectiveness of the use of records in the event of emergency events?
Let's consider all the questions in turn. I request detailed searches on the Internet, arguing is possible in the case of a principled, professional and strong personal thought of the reader.
1. Analog or digital?
The old technology - analog cameras, you can buy used equipment for miserable funds, even for 200 UAH per device. Image quality - you can learn by silhouette, gait features and the like. As a rule, the recording is performed on the recorder. There is no further development.
New technology - digital video cameras. The exact opposite of analog cameras is more expensive, more productive, and so on.
The main thing is that they can write video clips in the general or in a private cloud.
From its experience, at the time of publication, there are attractive offers from industrial Chinese brands on digital video cameras - Full HD, ftp, about $ 120. Such cameras can be used for on-line translation of images, as well as record events, for example by movement, in a general or private cloud.
2. Registrar or cloud?
As a rule, registrars work with a certain number of video cameras, hence in the future, when the issue of connecting additional video surveillance equipment becomes more likely, we will not be able to purchase the same model of the video camera that we acquired earlier, which will entail re-equipment of recording facilities.
That is, I propose to consider exclusively cloud recording technologies - either private (on our server) or a general cloud.
3. Recording time?
It is very simple - a calendar month - according to statistics - even if the emergency occurred on vacation of a resident, this time is enough to restore the record and initiate the corresponding actions.
4. Efficiency?
The most difficult question. From it you need to start considering this issue in general.
The experience of numerous Internet publications on the facts of a crime does not contribute to the identification of intruders, but even to "identified" it is extremely difficult to apply legal penalties.
Conclusion. Preliminary. Personal opinion.
The cost of implementing a video surveillance system is significant, the end result is questionable.
There are certain recommendations for discussion within the framework of the Board of AJOAH.
